There is no other treatment as effective as a lower face and neck lift to rejuvenate the neck and to eliminate jowls. Energy devices that are marketed to "tighten" the skin may work in the most minor cases, but they may not. In fact, they may actually do the opposite and melt fat leaving you looking older than you did prior to treatment. Additionally, if and when you do go for a facelift, you have created scar under the skin that makes the facelift much more difficult for the surgeon and could have a much higher risk of complication and an unsatisfactory result. My approach personally, as a surgeon who specializes in facelift, was to wait until I was ready to have the surgery. I did not use preventive measures because I knew that they would affect the results of surgery when it came time to have it. I urge patients to educate yourselves about these issues before you dive in. It is not to say that you can never have a facelift after having these treatments, but you must be aware that they are creating hostile surgical conditions. This nice lady followed my advice. She had not intervened with heating devices prior to surgery. She had a deep plane lower facelift and neck lift with great results at one month.
